French Horns
Welcome to the French Horn’s classroom!
We are a classroom of 26 champion children who are super excited for the year ahead!
We share a classroom with Miss Orritt and Mrs Charnock.
Our PE lessons are a Monday and Wednesday, so we might need to be in our PE kits for these days.
On a Thursday afternoon, we have Mrs Moores teaching us RE, as well as Mrs Wren teaching us PSHE.
On a Friday afternoon, we have Mrs Potter! On a weekly rotation we have Art and French! Oui!
Since we are in year 4, we get a new, awesome opportunity to play a brass instrument. Our brass lessons take place in school every Tuesday afternoon, so we need to ensure our instruments are brought in to school on these days. We have brass with Mrs Doyle, who will be getting us ready for the ultimate brass concert in the summer!
As we are year 4, we are reaching for the stars with our independence and positive attitudes to learning! We are continuing to rock out on Times Table Rockstar (TTRS) in readiness for our statutory Multiplication Timestable Check (MTC) in the summer!
We are also finding pleasure in reading and ensuring we are reading every night. We must ensure that whether it is reading to ourselves or with an adult that we record our progress in our reading journals. We are responsible for changing our books in school daily and our selection of library books that we keep in our school trays. We are able to take library books home with us over the weekend to share with our families!
We have our spelling test every Friday, with new spellings going out on the same day! We have two spelling groups: Orritt’s Otters and Charnock’s Cheetahs ( Don't worry - they don’t really cheat!).

- We are exploring continuity and change in History.
- We have been comparing our childhood to those children from Tudor and Victorian times.

- We explored a new text called "Along Came A Different".
- This story was all about different shapes that were all different colours.
- This story had a moral : It is awesome to have differences.
- Differences make us unique!
ART AND DESIGN - BLOCK 1
BLACK HISTORY DAY
- Today we celebrated Black History Day.
- We researched these profound figures in Black History and how they helped to mould the society we live in, today!
- We explored the lives of Rosa Parks and Mary Seacole.
- The significance of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela!
