English as an Additional Language

The term EAL (English as an Additional Language) is used to describe pupils whose main language spoken at home is not English. At TCP, we are committed to working in partnership with pupils and their families to meet the full range of needs of children with EAL, ensuring they feel welcomed, supported, and valued members of the Tarleton community.

On admission, we assess each pupil’s language skills and individual needs. Appropriate provision is then put in place to support their learning and development. A range of strategies is used to help pupils develop fluency in English, enabling them to fully access the curriculum and enhance both their social and academic experiences within the school environment.
