Our curriculum

We believe that an ambitious, engaging and well-sequenced curriculum is fundamental to the success of all pupils. Our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, promote high levels of motivation and ensure that pupils progressively build knowledge and skills over time. It provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to deepen their understanding, apply learning across subjects and develop the cultural capital needed to succeed in life.

Our curriculum is fully aligned with the National Curriculum, ensuring breadth, balance and progression across all subjects. Long-term planning clearly sets out the knowledge, skills and vocabulary pupils are expected to acquire at each stage. Progression and Skills documents demonstrate how learning builds coherently from year to year, enabling pupils to know more and remember more over time.

Please click the links below to view the Long-Term Planning, Progression and Skills, and Curriculum Intent for our Foundation Subjects. Each curriculum block includes a legend identifying significant individuals linked to the theme. These individuals have been carefully selected to reflect diversity, equality and inclusion, supporting pupils’ understanding of the wider world and contributing to their cultural development.

Our curriculum drivers sit at the heart of curriculum design and reflect the needs of our pupils and community. They have been agreed in consultation with key stakeholders and are embedded across subjects to ensure consistency and impact. These drivers shape learning experiences, enrichment opportunities and the wider curriculum.

Our curriculum drivers are:

  • Digitally Safe and Savvy – developing pupils’ digital literacy, online safety and responsible use of technology

  • Active Lifestyles – promoting physical health, wellbeing and positive attitudes to sport and activity

  • Equality and Diversity – fostering respect, inclusion and understanding of different cultures and identities

  • Community – strengthening pupils’ sense of belonging and engagement with local, national and global communities

  • The Arts – nurturing creativity, self-expression and appreciation of artistic achievement

  • The Environment – building awareness of sustainability, environmental responsibility and global citizenship

As a No Outsider's school, we consider Religious Education to be highly important to our children in developing their understanding of other people and their beliefs and promoting fundamental British Values.  We strongly discourage parents exercising their right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE.  However, should you wish to do so, please make an appointment to discuss this with Mr. Upton (headteacher) in the first instance.
