F r e n c h  H o r n s !

We are a fantastically friendly class of year fours who love to learn and are always enthusiastic. We love a challenge and we are not afraid to make mistakes. We have a growth mindset and approach everything with an open and positive attitude.

We have an exciting year ahead of us with Miss Orritt, Mrs Charnock and Mrs Nelson. We are very lucky to have a brass specialist to support us in learning how to play a brass instrument and the lovely Mrs Wren and Mrs Higson to help us with Computing, PSHE and French

We are excited about our many themes: Sparks Might Fly, Riotous Royalty, Walk Like An Egyptian, Tudor Times and Eurovision.

We are very much looking forward to an exciting and happy year ahead. Here's to 2023!!!!

BORWICK HALL RESIDENTIAL TRIP

TUDOR TIMES

SCIENCE WEEK

We had a scientist visit us today… Dr. Steven Rossington! Steve studies organic chemistry and green chemistry… basically he loves plants!

RE/PSHE Day

French Horns have had a fabulous time on PSHE/RE day today. We’ve learned about Christianity, Islam, Respect and Tolerance from our special visitors. We even managed to squeeze in some yoga and mindfulness colouring.

WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN

A word from Miss Orritt!

I am wanting to wish a massive HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my lovely year 4 Parents and Carers.

As we venture into the new year, I am super excited to continue learning alongside the Children as we take part in some pretty cool hands-on learning experiences!

I look forward to sharing more of our adventures with you on our class page and making memories to last a life-time.

As always, if you do have any questions, please do get in touch on class dojo!

ENTERPRISE WEEK

As part of our enterprise week, us french horns got busy creating our very own product to sell at the annual Christmas fayre! We created the ultimate reindeer feed for our company, Orritt's Rocking Reindeer! We couldn't be prouder of our product and our sales... we aren't just pretty faces!

Our reindeer food was like no other; we even had different coloured glitter that provided the reindeer with different super powers! We thought it would be important for our customers to be involved in the food making process as much as possible, so we had a stall for people to make their own. We had to make sure our customers used the correct measurements to avoid making the reindeer poorly! Too much of the blue glitter for the reindeer is like too many blue smarties for us!

Behind the scenes we were working tirelessly to prepare the best quality reindeer food available for Christmas 2022! We made things even more difficult for our competitors with a 2-in-1 product. Looking after the reindeer and the big guy couldn't be easier with our enterprise idea!

NO OUTSIDERS

Breaking the mould is what we do best at TCP and that is exactly what our children have demonstrated when learning about stereotypes!

We read "Dogs don't do ballet" and channelled the perspective of Biff (a dog).  Biff was destined for centre stage;  a wannabe ballerina but only ever reminded that he was a dog and that he should stick to doing only dog stuff!

HOW UNFAIR!

Together, we decided enough was enough and composed supportive letters to Biff to encourage him to go ahead and achieve his dreams as a ballerina!

We learned about the importance of being "assertive" and how we can  positively challenge being told we can't do something... when in fact we can! We did this through some pretty heated-role plays.
